In January, Salesforce announced plans to layoff 7,000 employees.
While it wasn't immediately know who would be impacted, following the close of their fiscal year on January 31st, the cuts started rolling in and hit the Sales team especially hard.
Benioff had indicated throughout 2022 that more cuts would be coming, citing concerns about productivity after they aggressively scaled up throughout the pandemic. In hindsight, this may have been overzealous growth, hiring additional Sales Reps without having a clearly defined market penetration strategy.
The result has been thousands of former Account Executives and Sales Leaders being on the market for new opportunities.
